xinit: connection to X server lost.

waiting for X server to shut down

I still get just a blank screen when I try to start X windows. When I use
afterstep the colour is yellow, when fvwm95 is used the colour is skyblue.

When I move the mouse I see a Vertical line moving across the screen and no
mouse pointer. The icons are also not visible

Thanks and Regards
