I released some days ago a script called "upgrade", able to do perfectly
what you wish.
1. Put this command in the OLD 7r12 muLinux.
2. Put new archives ROOT.gz. USR.bz2
and various addon in a moutable directory (/DOS/mulinux work well, if you
are in UMSDOS).
3. start "upgrade". This script ask you about the directory you choosen,
for exampe /DOS/mulinux.
A this point "upgrade" start comparing files from archives and current
file-system: "add" the new files, and ask you if you wish "upgrade"
existing (but different) files.
"upgrade" command is based on GNU tar: 7r12 tar in not GNU. Can you
extract the new tar from the new EXT.tgz and put it in /usr/local7bin?
