The ID utilities handle more than just identifiers; they also treat other kinds of tokens, including numeric constants, and the contents of certain character strings.
Database queries can be issued from the command-line, or from within emacs, serving as an augmented tags facility.
Programs included are:
mkid: (id-utils)mkid invocation. Creating an ID database. * lid: (id-utils)lid invocation. Matching words and patterns. * fid: (id-utils)fid invocation. Listing a file's tokens. * fnid: (id-utils)fnid invocation. Looking up file names. * xtokid: (id-utils)xtokid invocation. Testing mkid scanners.
