Maybe, you run some older version. The muLinux "ps" is only a script.
The error is generated in this way:
1. 'ps' composed a list, containing the process id 3402
2. 'ps' tried to print the list on the screen but the process
numbered 3402 is - meanwhile - dead, defunct.
The error is *not* related to PPP.
