5) Why not create the floppies?
You will have to create ONE floppy at least (see step 2)
so you could easily create them all...

Since writing to a floppy and reading it back is slow, I
was wondering if I could do it without creating a floppy.
Like I said, if I am planning to upgrade on the same
machine, why create additional floppies? Just curious, I
guess. Reading from the DOS files will be much faster.

No you don't because the others are AddOns not necessarily
needed.
It might be that you need MODULES.tgz if you have hardware
not
supported by disk #1 (eth, SCSI, ...).

I am not saying that you do not *need* the Addons. But, if
you are upgrading from mulinux 6r4 to 7r5, you do not need
to create floppies to be able to use them. You could
directly bzip2 | tar -xf- the tgz files from the DOS
section.

Thanks,
Venki
